Conformal Coatings:"I enjoy working in a positive atmosphere & being proud of the quality items we produce." - Jen

Conformal coatings are protective materials that are designed to conform to the surface of printed circuit boards for the purpose of providing a durable barrier against environmental contaminants.

We have been masking components and applying conformal coatings on printed circuit boards for military, medical, and automotive programs for over 15 years. With a dedicated ESD masking area, conductive painted floors, and expertise using acrylic, polyurethane and epoxy coatings, Strategic is your solution for protecting your circuit boards from environmental contaminants through the use of conformal coatings. including those that meet MIL-I-46058C, IPC CC-830B and UL746E standards.

All of the conformal coatings used at Strategic contain a UV tracer that allows inspection of the coating under UV light to ensure the coating is applied in the areas necessary. Strategic inspects every circuit board after coating application to ensure that they are coated correctly.

The physical and chemical compositions of various coatings differ, and thereby offer varying degrees of protection. However, all conformal coatings possess certain characteristics:

1. Conformal coatings prevent short circuits and corrosion of conductors and solder joints by providing a barrier against moisture, dust, and chemical contaminants.

2. The coatings provide durable insulation to help components tolerate shock and resist abrasion.

3. The coatings also serve to reduce mechanical and thermal stresses on the components. We can assist in selecting and specifying the best conformal coating for your project.

Strategic applies acrylic, polyurethane, and epoxy formulations sourced from Humiseal and Chemtronics, and can build the right answer to your circuit-protection opportunity.
